Title: Cost Accountant
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
Location: Wellington, FL 33414 and some travel during busy season to the Belle Glade office

Key Responsibilities for the Cost Accountant:
- Prepare and maintain production budgets, ensuring material, labor, and overhead costs are accurately tracked and analyzed
- Maintain detailed cost records related to raw materials, labor, overhead, and production activities
- Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs, providing recommendations to improve efficiency and control expenses
- Monitor fast-moving, short-shelf-life inventory and ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting
- Account for natural product shrinkage, spoilage, and waste within inventory costing processes
- Value raw produce inventory while managing the impact of fluctuating market purchase prices
- Maintain accurate bills of material, routings, and yield/scrap factors within the DAX ERP system to reflect actual production processes
- Evaluate the cost impact of new products, packaging changes, process improvements, and capital projects
- Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, cost-related accruals, and other assigned accounts, resolving reconciling items within established deadlines
- Prepare and post period-end journal entries, including inventory adjustments, accruals, overhead allocations, absorption entries, and cost of goods sold transactions in accordance with the monthly close calendar
- Prepare financial reports and cost analyses that support operational and executive decision-making
Qualifications for the Cost Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience
