Aboutthe role
As our VP of Engineering , you will be a driving force behind our technological innovation! We're looking for someone who thrives on turning groundbreaking ideas into tangible realities. You'll be right at the heart of our growth journey, collaborating directly with our CEO/Founder to shape our product vision.
You’ll be guiding our dynamic engineering team to transform concepts into reality and will have a track record of bringing prototypes into production and working on software-enabled hardware platforms. You’re the ultimate problem solver, adept at keeping engineering teams unblocked and laser-focused.
On a typical day you could be:
Collaborating with team leads to help them achieve their weekly goals by optimising resource allocation and removing blockers.
Guiding technical decision-making to ensure focus is aligned with current company priorities.
Building systems to improve company processes.
Delivering targeted coaching to leads and mentoring the wider team
Driving hiring efforts, from needs assessment and JD creation to recruiting, assessing and closing world-class engineering talent.
Syncing with the CEO to understand customer needs and building those into the development strategy.
Providing updates to the CEO on development progress.
Contributing to a positive company culture.
About youYou’re experienced in taking hardware from prototype into production.
Additive Manufacturing experience is particularly desirable.
You have the ability to make engineering direction decisions based on insights from different engineering teams (Hardware and Software). You don’t need to be an expert in all our tech but you do need to understand it enough to direct it!
You are Wellington-based (or willing to relocate) to work alongside our engineers on the shop floor and gain the best understanding of the drivers for decision-making.
You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams through company growth.
You get energised coaching team leads to become better people leaders
You have experience hiring and scaling up high-performing engineering teams.
You’re focused and are excited by the challenge of shifting from ‘loose and creative’ to process and systems - but without killing the creativity!
You’re collaborative and thrive in an environment with many stakeholders.
Hardware start-up experience is very desirable. We want someone who has done it before so we can learn from you!
