THE OPPORTUNITYThe UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Custodial team for a permanent full-time opportunity in the capacity of Permanent Unassigned Caretaker.
Location:
Unassigned; including but not limited to:
Orangeville, Shelburne, North Wellington, and Erin
FTE and
Hours:
1.0 FTE; 40 hours per week
Hourly Pay Rate: $25.05 per hour (probationary rate), $26.65 per hour (permanent rate); wage rate effective September 1, 2025
Note:
An additional shift premium of $0.7 3 per hour applies to afternoon shift
Shift: Primary afternoon shift, with the requirement to work day shift as needed

Reporting to the Custodial Manager, the responsibilities of the Permanent Unassigned Caretaker are as follows:
Responsibilities:The Caretaker – Unassigned support role duties include but are not limited to:
- Opening and closing of sites
- Snow removal – salting and sanding
- Water flushing
- Cleaning of classrooms, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, washrooms, and all related areas as directed by the Head Caretaker, Shift Supervisor or designate
- Daily check logs
- Operating the Clorox 360 Machine if required
- Head Caretaker duties
- Other duties as assigned
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.) or equivalent
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to be successfully fit tested for an N95 respirator and maintain proper fit
- An understanding of health and safety regulations as well as the WHMIS program
- Independent, self-motivated and detail oriented
- Knowledge of computer applications as required by the position
- Strong mechanical aptitude is considered would be considered an asset
- Basic understanding of heating and ventilation equipment would be considered an asset
