Position: Registered Nurse FIRST ASSIST (RNFA)- OPERATING ROOM FULLTIME

Location

Wellington Regional Medical Center, Wellington, Florida.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a specialized registered nurse whose practice is an extension of perioperative nursing and has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and similar settings. The RNFA assists the surgeon with intraoperative procedures beyond the scope of practice for nurses without RNFA training. Utilization of the nursing process supports comprehensive pre‑operative patient care management, intra‑operative surgical first assisting, and postoperative patient care management.

Intraoperatively, the RNFA works interdependently with the surgeon, applying judgment and skill to assist in performing safe operations that yield optimal patient outcomes. The RNFA provides care for patients of all ages and offers leadership and direction to the perioperative team during the perioperative phase as needed. The RNFA does not function concurrently as the Scrub Nurse.
