Performs intermediate-level technical work in the maintenance and repair of various machinery and equipment depending on the assigned department. The position is responsible for ensuring safe and proper operating conditions through the application of diverse trade skills. Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.

- Operates vehicles, tools, and equipment as appropriate to the assignment.
- Performs inspection and testing tasks as part of a regular preventive maintenance program and to ensure safe and proper operating conditions. Utilizes personal protective equipment when necessary.
- Maintains various records regarding assigned tasks, e.g., work orders, timesheets, materials required/used, and purchase requisitions.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Works independently or as part of a team project effort, depending on area of assignment.
- Oversees specific work of others when applicable to work order assignments.
- Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes or other critical events.
- Performs tasks related to sports field preparation and maintenance (e.g. dragging/raking fields; lining/painting fields; irrigation system operation/maintenance; laying seed/sprigs/sod; fence repair; weed control applications; etc.).
- Performs services and repairs as needed to maintain sports fields and park facilities (e.g. construction projects; minor electrical/plumbing repairs; masonry; carpentry; painting; cleaning restrooms/shop/work areas; etc.).
- Provides manual labor functions as directed (e.g. digging holes/trenches; raking; hoeing; lifting; etc.).
- Operates/maintains equipment and machinery used in sports fields and park facilities maintenance (truck/trailer; tractor; turf trickster; edger; tiller; aerator; etc.).
- Applies chemicals to fields properly and safely by following written or verbal directions for mixing chemical compounds according to specifications, disposing of residual chemical products as directed, or storing them for future use.
- Performs janitorial and custodial maintenance of recreational facilities, grounds, and buildings including restroom maintenance and trash disposal as needed.
- Prepares set up for a variety of events.
- Operates vehicles, tools, and equipment as appropriate to the assignment, e.g., drills, presses, grinders, buffers, spray guns, hydraulic jacks, heavy equipment, vehicle lifts, welders, and mounting machines.
- Performs general to complex computer diagnostics and electronic troubleshooting tasks in isolating and resolving maintenance and repair issues.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
High School Diploma/GED required; supplemented by some vocational training and two (2) or more years of technical experience in construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical maintenance; demonstrated…
