Job Description & How to Apply Below

Alphero is a digital agency on a mission to create and compose the intelligent digital experiences of the future. We partner with organisations across NZ, Australia and USA to build digital services that matter and you’ll find we’re behind many of the apps and sites New Zealanders (and Aussies) already know well.

We bring together strategists, designers, developers and testers to shape bold, meaningful products. Guided by our pillars Inventive, Emotive and Brave, our work is grounded in empathy, curiosity and courage.

We’re currently in a transition: from delivering today’s digital products to inventing adaptive, AI-driven, composable experiences. That means our teams aren’t just delivering features, they’re shaping systems built for change. Our development practice plays a critical role, bringing their curiosity, exploring future technologies including AI, using modern, reusable codebases and thoughtful architecture. And with accessibility and security baked in from day one.

The

job

We’re looking for a super-solid iOS Developer to join Alphero’s mobile practice.

As part of an agency that builds products, you’ll work across the full lifecycle — from early technical thinking and architecture through to delivery, release and ongoing improvement. You’ll be hands‑on coding, owning significant parts of (or entire) iOS work‑streams, and contributing to products that deliver meaningful outcomes.

You’ll collaborate closely with designers, QA and clients, enjoying the energy of working together in person while still benefiting from flexible, hybrid working. Communication matters in consulting, but there’s no single “type” here quiet thinkers and confident sharers are equally welcome.

Your focus areas
  • iOS delivery and quality
  • Working on (or owning) major iOS work‑streams, contributing to architecture decisions, and building clean, maintainable and performant iOS applications.
  • Creating exceptional mobile experiences
  • Working with designers and testers to deliver intuitive, accessible and beautifully crafted iOS experiences.
  • Growing the mobile and development practice
  • Sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and staying curious about future technologies, iOS patterns, tooling and ways of working
You will have experience in…
  • Creating understandable, supportable iOS code, with strong experience across the layers of an application and genuine care for security and user privacy.
  • You’ll likely have 4–8+ years’ experience building iOS apps using Swift (with some Objective‑C a bonus), and confidence working with modern iOS architectures, API integration, authentication, local persistence and performance optimisation.
  • While this is an iOS role, there’s an opportunity to work up and down the stack. To make us extra happy, you may have experience working with cloud‑connected systems (for example AWS‑based APIs and services), CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and app store release processes.
  • This role is NZ‑based, mainly in office.

Flexibility around hours and the option for hybrid working with a day or two WFH a week. Plus three months paid parental leave for the primary carer, two weeks for secondary. And everyone gets a day off on their birthday!

Great pay and perks

Competitive salaries that keep up with the market and are regularly reviewed, a fancy new phone and account plan after three months, and the latest tools and tech to help you nail your job.

Getting to grow

Lots of opportunities for in‑house mentoring, peer‑to‑peer learning as well as an all‑team Te Ao Māori programme, accessibility training and the option to attend external courses and conferences.

A kind and inclusive culture that prioritises mental and physical wellbeing, with counselling services available and wellness leave as needed. Not to mention the discounted gym membership, fresh fruit and Fair Trade coffee.

Movie nights, running groups, bake offs, table tennis championships, good old fashioned Friday night drinks… and an epic Christmas party come December. There’s always lots on if you’re feeling social.

Sweet spaces

Cool offices in great locos - Wellington CBD and Auckland CBD - with sit/stand desks, break out spaces and comfy couches. Bike in (we’ve got racks, showers and towels), bring your dog (we love dogs).
