WFSE CBA 42.21 King County Premium Pay:
Employees assigned to a permanent duty station in King County receive a 5% premium pay calculated from their base salary. Employees no longer permanently assigned to a King County duty station are no longer eligible for this premium.
The Department of Labor & Industries seeks an L&I Auditor 3 to support the agency’s mission by ensuring employers carry industrial insurance and pay the correct premiums. The role involves conducting audits of business financial records, performing on-site audits to verify risk classifications and providing technical assistance to employers.
Responsibilities- Identify businesses suspected of non‑compliance.
- Screen, schedule, coordinate, and conduct audits of business financial records.
- Evaluate and verify financial records.
- Conduct computer research on firm accounts with other agency programs.
- Review employment contracts and conduct fact‑finding interviews.
- Perform on‑site tours of employer facilities to evaluate operations.
- Prepare report of audit findings.
- Prepare subpoenas and other legal documents as needed; testify at industrial insurance appeals and court proceedings.
- Learn and follow Field Audit Standard Audit Processes.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries about Labor & Industries reporting requirements and refer them to appropriate parties.
- Minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours of college credit accounting coursework.
- Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the internet.
- Strong interviewing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain relationships with accounting and non‑accounting personnel.
- Organized, capable of handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines with consistent quality and accuracy.
- Independent decision making using critical thinking skills.
- One year of unrestricted driver’s license.
- At least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting, including one finance and one business law class, plus two years of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR
- Successful completion of the Labor and Industries Auditor Training Program; OR
- Equivalent education/experience meeting the above credit hours and experience; OR
- A master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or a closely allied field, or certification as a Public Accountant, Fraud Examiner, Internal Auditor, Information System Auditor, Management Accountant, or equivalent certification will substitute one year of required experience.
Assigned duty stations:
Bellevue, WA;
Tukwila, WA;
Seattle, WA.
This hybrid position requires presence in the office minimum two days per week.
SalaryL&I Auditor 1: $4,108 – $5,506 per month
L&I Auditor 2: $4,406 – $5,928 per month
L&I Auditor 3: $4,866 – $6,542 per month
