Elementary Teacher

Position Objective:

To equip students intellectually while nurturing them spiritually. You will instill a love for God and His world, ensuring students build a firm foundation of wisdom and competence in literature, reading, grammar, spelling, math, writing, history, and Bible.

• Creatively prepare daily lessons according to The River Academy’s assigned course content
• Write weekly lesson plans that outline lesson objective, content, and student assessment
• Actively instruct students toward content mastery, and when content mastery is not achieved, works to help students understand key concepts
• Monitor student progress through weekly assignments and tests
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs
• Grade and return student work/tests in a timely fashion
• Positively participate with other River Academy teachers and staff in a way that fosters teamwork
• Communicate and enforce expectations for behavior and procedures for maintaining order in the classroom
• Build student relationships inside and outside of the classroom
• Regularly communicate with parents and administrators regarding student progress and behavior
• Maintains a physical classroom that is both organized and visually appealing
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Nurture and support students in their growing faith, knowledge of the Bible, and relationship with Christ and others

• Elementary teachers report directly to the principal

• Exempt

• Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or related field

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (especially with students)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
