1.0 FTE- plus 15 additional days to be determined annually
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Elementary Dean provides shared leadership and support to ensure strong instruction, deep engagement, and high expectations in every classroom. This individual is primarily responsible for supporting social-emotional learning, PBIS, and student success using a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Under the guidance of the Building Principal, the Dean assists in the day-to-day management of school operations, with a specific focus on student behavior and school climate.
The Dean will support certificated professional growth through coaching and guidance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represents and promotes the district's mission of Excellence in Learning, Equity, and Accountability.
- Assists with the day-to-day operation of the school facility to support the principal as the primary instructional leader.
- Directly supports student behavioral growth and social-emotional development.
- Coordinates school-based systems of Integrated Student Supports.
- Creates and maintains a safe, inclusive school climate.
- Communicates all necessary information to appropriate school and district personnel.
- Assists in the support and guidance of instructional growth for staff.
- Assists in the selection of effective staff members.
- Fosters strong, collaborative relationships with school/district staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Manage and evaluate classified staff
- Follows and adheres to all District Policies and Procedures.
- Possess a valid Washington state teaching certificate; a valid Washington state principal's credential is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful elementary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a school setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Maintains a professional attitude in stressful situations.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to use data to improve student achievement and family engagement.
- Multi-tasking is essential as deadlines and frequent interruptions are common.
