1st Grade Teacher
Washington Elementary
1.0 FTE, Non-Continuing Contract (leave replacement)
School Year ONLY
DESCRIPTION:
Instruct first grade students and implement all required district and state assessments. Use data to plan, implement and assess classroom instruction consistent with program and district curriculum. Work in collaboration to help each first grade student learn at high levels in all subjects including English Language Arts, mathematics, social skills and other common core state standards. Report pupil progress to parents, support programs and building/district professional development programs;
attend meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Washington state certification with appropriate endorsement. Bilingual/biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional practices are a must. Experience in elementary age core content areas is highly preferred.
Experience with elementary level English Language Arts and Math curriculum. Experience implementing Reading Science, using the wonders curriculum, i-ready reading and math online. Strong interpersonal skills is a must. Ability to work as a team player, including collaboration around the use of student growth data is a must. Knowledge and experience implementing Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) preferred. Working knowledge and experience in implementing the strategies for creating a trauma-sensitive classroom preferred.
Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this job.
