Salary: $19.99 – $22.44 per hour
DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the building administrator and/or the classroom teacher, the candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to the instructional program to enhance learning experiences in one‑on‑one, small group, or classroom settings. Responsibilities include preparing materials for student use, administering curriculum as directed, supervising before/after school, cafeteria, and/or recess, and performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS• Minimum AA degree or equivalent or a passed PRAXIS test required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Experience teaching social skills to students is preferred.
• Experience working with students with extreme behaviors preferred.
• Comfortable managing large groups of students.
• Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, positive social skills, and a calm personality.
• Ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff.
• May require prolonged sitting or standing; appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess is required.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Applicant must complete an INS I‑9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility.
• Applicant must complete a disclosure form indicating any convictions; a background check based on fingerprints will be requested by the Washington State Patrol & FBI.
This position is represented by Public School Employees of Washington.
BENEFITSHealth insurance benefits for employees working 630 hours or more per year include medical, dental, vision, life, and long‑term disability plans through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).
Paid leave benefits:
- 180 – 219 Day Employees: 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
- 220 – 259 Day Employees: 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
- 260 Day Employees: 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.
Tuition reimbursement: 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
