Special Education Para – 2 positions (Castle Rock, Non‑Continuing – 2026‑2027 only)
6 hours per day / 191 days per year STARTS 2026‑2027 School Year Salary: $21.32 – $23.79 per hour
Responsibilities- Assist the Special Education instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students.
- Provide educational services to students in the special education program.
- Observe, record and report student progress and behavior.
- Assist students in games, activities, instruction, and use of playground equipment.
- Use appropriate behavior management techniques to maintain a positive climate for learning.
- Motivate students through effective communication and evaluation feedback.
- Assist in providing for the physical needs of students.
- Escort and transport students to and from various activities and locations.
- Provide daily feeding and meal‑time supervision and assistance.
- Assist with toilet and hygiene care as needed.
- Adhere to required program guidelines and the student’s individualized education plan (IEP) or behavior plan.
- Provide one‑on‑one or resource‑room support as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Building locations subject to change based on student support needs.
- Minimum AA degree or equivalent, or passed PRAXIS test required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to make good decisions.
- Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, good communication, teamwork, academic and social skills, and a sense of humor.
- Ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff.
- May require lifting, prolonged sitting or standing.
- Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

- Paid leave: 180‑219 Day Employees – 10 days sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 11 holidays; 220‑259 Day Employees – 10 days sick leave, 3 personal leave days, 11 holidays; 260 Day Employees – 12 days sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays, 12 vacation days.
- Tuition reimbursement: 50 % up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
- Benefits may be prorated based on date of hire/hours per day.
