Salary: $30.45 - $32.90 per hour

Description:

The Wenatchee School District is seeking a dedicated Social Service Specialist to join our building support teams. Guided by our promise to build a foundation of diversity, equity, and inclusion , this classified staff member will play a pivotal role in maximizing student academic, social, and emotional success.

The ideal candidate will provide direct social-emotional learning (SEL) support , actively assist with student behavior management and serve as an essential member of the school's crisis response team. This role requires close collaboration with families, school staff, and outside community agencies to reduce barriers to student success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Behavior & Instructional Support

* Provide direct Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support and skills training via small group instruction, 1:1 student pullout, and classroom push-in support.

* Help students develop healthy coping mechanisms and self-regulation skills.

* Support building-wide behavior expectations and assist administration with behavior management strategies.

* Support classroom teachers and case managers with interventions across Tiers 1, 2, and 3, including the implementation of student behavior plans.

* Teach students essential problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, and refusal skills.

Crisis Response & Team Collaboration

* Serve as an active member of the school's Crisis Response Team, helping to develop, review, and execute building-level crisis response plans.

* Provide immediate crisis identification, short-term intervention, and stabilization for adolescents experiencing high stress or acute trauma.

* Serve on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Team and participate in Student Study Teams (SST) to assess and address holistic student needs.

* Collaborate alongside building principals, counselors, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and Special Education staff to align student resources.

Qualifications & Skills

* Bachelors degree in Social Work, Counseling, Special Education, teaching or a closely related social services field is highly preferred.

* Experience working with students with challenging behaviors

* Safety Care certified or willingness to get certified

* Experience working with school aged children, implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and executing evidence based behavioral practices.

* Excellent active listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to diffuse anger and mediate conflict constructively with students and parents.

* Demonstrated effectiveness working with students of varying socio-economic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds.

* Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is highly preferred.

* Must be patient, flexible, self motivated, and possess a calm personality capable of operating under pressure.

* Excellent attendance and punctuality are vital. Position may require prolonged sitting or standing.

Health insurance benefits for employees working 630 hours or more per year include medical, dental, vision, life and long term disability plans through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
