Pioneer Middle School
6 hours per day / 191 days per year
Salary: $19.99 - $22.44 per hour
Job DescriptionWork under the direction of the building principal and assigned certificated teacher(s) to provide specialized support to students enrolled in career & technical education courses (science, tech lab, health). Assist the instructors in providing support to small groups or 1-on-1 as needed. Coordinate with staff to deliver services. Work with online programs as required to support student learning. Before and/or after school supervision.
Attend training as needed/directed. Other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum AA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Experience supporting or tutoring middle school students with academic math content/skills is preferred.
- Experience teaching social skills to students preferred.
- Experience working with students with extreme behaviors preferred.
- Comfortable with managing large groups of students.
- Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality.
- Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff.
- May require prolonged sitting or standing.
- Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

Paid leave benefits:
- 180 - 219 Day Employees: 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
- 220 - 259 Day Employees: 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
- 260 Day Employees: 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.
Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses. Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
Immigration and Record ChecksThe recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I‑9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working. Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law.
In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional upon completion of the record check.
