Position: 248-CLS-06-26 Para Educator @ Orchard

POSITION #248-CLS-06-26 Para-Educator - Orchard Middle School 6 hours per day / 191 days per year Salary: $19.99 - $22.44 per hour DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the building administrator and/or the classroom teacher performs a variety of tasks related to the instructional program to enhance learning experiences in one-on-one, small group or classroom setting. Preparing materials for student use and administration of curriculum as directed. Before/after school, cafeteria and/or recess supervision. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum AA degree or equivalent or a passed PRAXIS test required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Experience teaching social skills to students is preferred.
  • Experience working with students with extreme behaviors preferred.
  • Comfortable with managing large groups of students.
  • Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality.
  • Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff.
  • May require prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess.
  • Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

Health insurance benefits for employees working 630 hours or more per year include medical, dental, vision, life and long‑term disability plans through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).

Paid leave benefits:

  • 180–219 Day Employees: 10 days sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
  • 220–259 Day Employees: 10 days sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.
  • 260 Day Employees: 12 days sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement: 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire or hours per day.
