Position: 246-CLS-06-26 Para Educator @ Lincoln

Position #246-CLS-06-26:
Para-Educator – Lincoln Elementary

6 hours per day / 191 days per year.

Salary: $19.99 – $22.44 per hour.

Description

Under the direction of the building administrator and/or the classroom teacher, performs a variety of tasks related to the instructional program to enhance learning experiences in one‑on‑one, small group or classroom settings. Prepares materials for student use and administers curriculum as directed. Provides before/after‑school, cafeteria and/or recess supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum AA degree or equivalent, or a passed PRAXIS test required. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required. Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions. Preferred experience teaching social skills to students and working with students with extreme behaviors. Comfortable with managing large groups of students. Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, positive social skills, and a calm personality. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff.

May require prolonged sitting or standing. Wear appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

    • 260 Day Employees: 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.
  • Tuition reimbursement: 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
  • Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire and hours per day.
Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement

The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I‑9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check

Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
