Salary: $20.80 - $23.21 per hour

Description

Assist the Special Education instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students. Provide educational services to students in the special education program. This position may require one‑on‑one or resource room support. Other related duties as assigned. Building locations subject to change based on student support needs.

Qualifications
  • Minimum AA degree or equivalent, or passed PRAXIS test required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to make good decisions.
  • Patient, flexible, self‑motivated, good communication, teamwork, academic skills, positive social skills, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff.
  • May require lifting, prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

Benefits

Health insurance benefits for employees working 630 hours or more per year include medical, dental, vision, life and long‑term disability plans through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Paid leave benefits: 180‑219 day employees: 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays; 220‑259 day employees: 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays;

260 day employees: 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days. Tuition reimbursement: 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses. Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire and hours per day.

Immigration & Background Requirements

Applicants must complete an INS I‑9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working. A background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol and FBI. Employment is conditional upon completion of the record check.
