Middle School Math Interventionist — Orchard Middle School

1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

We are seeking a passionate, student-centered Math Interventionist to join our middle school team. You will lead targeted math interventions (Tier 2 and Tier
3) using hands-on tools and real-world applications to help students build confidence and close foundational gaps. You will also serve as an instructional leader by overseeing, planning for, and guiding paraprofessionals to maximize the impact of the math support team. With a large Spanish-speaking population, bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred to connect with families.

• Targeted Instruction:
  Deliver research-based math interventions to small groups of middle school students, focusing on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving.
• Real-World Application:
  Design tasks that connect ratios, percentages, and data analysis to real-world scenarios to increase engagement.
• Paraprofessional Leadership:
  Plan daily/weekly intervention activities for paraprofessionals with clear lesson structures and data-tracking tools.
• Data-Driven Planning:
  Analyze diagnostic and progress-monitoring data and state assessments to identify gaps, track growth, and adjust instruction and paraprofessionals’ weekly plans.
• Defining Exit Criteria:
  Collaborate with the MTSS/RTI team to define objective exit criteria for transitioning students out of the intervention tier.
• Collaboration:
  
  Partner with core math teachers, special education staff, and administration to align intervention strategies with classroom curriculum.
• Family Connection:
  Communicate progress with families and provide real-world tools to support learning at home.

• Leadership & Organization:
  Manage your teaching schedule while organizing lesson plans, schedules, and resources for the paraprofessional team.
• Patience & Relationship-Building:
  Build strong relationships to reduce math anxiety.
• Behavior Management:
  Maintain engagement and progress in a small-group setting.

Meet Washington state certification and endorsement requirements. Experience teaching math to middle school students is preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. Attendance and punctuality required. Physical requirements include prolonged sitting or standing.
