CLS-Para Educator; Science Field M&O

POSITION #359-CLS-09-26 Para Educator, Science Field Experience Specialist District-wide/M&O Warehouse 6 hours per day/191 days per year Salary: $20.51-$23.02 per hour

The Science Field Experience Specialist will work with the Science Resource Center Coordinator to plan and execute the logistics of the K-6 Science Field Experiences.

Create the Science Field Experience Master Schedule. Mailing and emailing pre-field science field experience information to teachers. Accommodating students with special needs. Coordinating with the following WSD Staff:
Music, Art, Elementary & 6th Grade Teachers, Principals, School Administrators, Office Managers, SpEd teachers, Nurses, Food Service, Transportation. Post-field experience communication (surveys, feedback, etc.)

Ordering busses. Ordering porta-potties. Filling out and submitting permit applications with community partners and creating contracts with private schools. Coordinating the Spanish translations of science field experience materials. Inventorying supplies for all field experiences. Coordinating with the Science Kit Specialist to order materials for the field experiences. Send materials lists to the Science Kit Specialist. Gathering all field experience supplies, palletizing and coordinating delivery to sites.

Ordering district truck or WSD driver to deliver field equipment to field experience sites. Setting up the field experience with the help of the SRC Coordinator, SRC timesheet sub and volunteers. Overseeing the operation of the entire 4-day science field experiences. Cleaning, inventorying, and refurbishing materials and noting changes for the following year. Coordinating with Field Instructors- both Volunteers and District Subs.

Recruit community and agency volunteers for all science field experiences. Recruit District Certificated subs for science field experiences. Pre-field communication with instructors. Debrief daily with field instructors to get feedback on lesson plans/logistics. Send survey and thank you notes to all volunteers and field instructors. Train field instructors. Find WSD student volunteers for the science field experiences. Supporting the Science Resource Center (SRC).

Use of personal vehicle with mileage compensation. Other duties as assigned

Minimum AA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required. Experience related to science education, curriculum and instruction. Experience in ordering, purchasing and organizing inventory. Excellent organizational skills and record keeping ability. Commitment to follow through on tasks with a minimum of supervision. In-depth knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to establish effective partnerships with Wenatchee School District and other community partners.

Use of a personal vehicle with mileage compensation at the district current mileage rate. Attendance and punctuality are important in this position. This position requires:
Working in a warehouse, where the noise level is usually moderate, but can be loud  temperature can be hot or cold. The floor is cement. Prolonged sitting or standing on a regular basis. The physical capability to lift and or move science kits and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. In some cases, working with large groups of students, teachers, and/or volunteers, therefore the working environment may be moderately noisy.

The willingness to also work in classrooms and at all WSD field experience sites. The willingness to train in first aid and CPR. Care and maintenance of living materials.
