Position: Project Manager (up to Principal)

SALARY RANGE

The starting salary range for the Project Manager is $103,360 - $129,200 based on qualifications. With tenure and strong performance an employee may earn up to $155,040 annualized.

The starting salary range for the Project Manager Senior is $115,840 - $144,800 based on qualifications. With tenure and strong performance an employee may earn up to $173,760 annualized.

The starting salary range for the Project Manager Principal is $136,880 - $171,100 based on qualifications. With tenure and strong performance an employee may earn up to $205,320 annualized.

All new employees hold a 12‑month introductory period.

PROJECT MANAGER

Overview A Project Manager leads teams on projects of low to moderate complexity to achieve outcomes on time and within budget. Responsibilities cover initiation, planning, execution, and close‑out. Projects may include hydro‑power plant rehabilitation, transmission or distribution system construction, major building construction, or telecommunications infrastructure.

  • Project Execution Manage projects of low to moderate complexity according to scope, schedule, and budget. Measure progress against plans and objectives. Typical characteristics: low risk, small scale, 10 or fewer stakeholders, project team of 10 or less, budget under $5 M.
  • Project Planning Develop plans for resources, milestones, deliverables, risk assessments, cost estimates, quality requirements, and policies.
  • Project Control Follow effective control systems to ensure contractor and District activities comply with schedules and contracts.
  • Quality Control Ensure quality processes are in place to meet customer satisfaction and technical requirements.
  • Team Direction Build and lead project teams, negotiate staff resources, and coordinate with other managers. Escalate issues in a timely manner. Perform field data collection as needed.
  • Communications Report progress to supervisors, teams, and clients; assist in external communications and regulatory agency interactions.
  • Development Pursue continuing education and training to refine project management skills.
  • Attendance & Safety Maintain predictable attendance and comply with District policies, training, and safety procedures.
  • Vehicle Operation Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business.

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field.

Experience 3+ years managing construction or major maintenance projects. Preferred experience includes power plant rehabilitation, major building construction, utility transmission or distribution, or telecommunications infrastructure.

Licenses and Certifications Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) within 24 months of hire. Valid driver’s license at hire and Washington driver’s license within 30 days.
