Summary

Performs routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures at a technical level requiring little supervision, to include trauma and surgery exams. Prepares and operates fixed radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable x‑ray, and c‑arm equipment utilizing safe practices while adhering to department protocols. Provide patients with safe, courteous, and efficient care. Assist in other sections of the department as needed. Required to be available for on‑call shifts.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares patient and performs all exams while effectively operating fluoroscopic, x‑ray room, and x‑ray portable equipment following good radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
  • Assists Radiologists in fluoroscopic procedures; may be required to perform minor fluoroscopic procedures under Radiologist's direction in accordance with radiology technology certification.
  • Under direction of a physician, may inject contrast material and/or medication.
  • Assists physician with fluoroscopic procedures in the operating room.
  • Sets up required sterile medical surgical equipment according to standards and procedure.
  • Assists in emergency situations under direction of MD/RN.
  • Reviews and evaluates diagnostic images for technical quality.
  • Verifies patient information and exams performed, updates and changes exam description to reflect actual exam performed.
  • May be required to assist clinical instructor and provide direct training and supervision to student technologists.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of new X‑ray Technicians and Radiologic Technologists.
  • Utilizes PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently and completes required paperwork for each examination performed.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of x‑ray equipment and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Places work orders for service. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
  • Complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in all annual required training and in‑service training.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Complies with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles, Image Gently principles, and Image Wisely pledge.
  • Understand principles of correct body mechanics and is able to apply these in assisting patients during transfer, lifting and ambulation.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Washington State Certification as Radiologic Technologist (RT) license.
Desired
  • Previous radiology experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • One-year clinical experience in diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy.
