Job Summary
The Learning Consultant supports student academic success by working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families to assess learning needs and implement effective instructional strategies. This role includes helping develop individualized support plans, conducting assessments, offering teacher coaching, and ensuring that accommodations and interventions are effective. In a Catholic school setting, the consultant also helps promote a learning environment that aligns with the values and mission of Catholic education.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students with learning differences or academic challenges.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student learning needs and strengths.
- Develop and support implementation of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) or learning support plans.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to provide targeted academic support or enrichment.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and outside service providers, including psychologists, therapists, and educational specialists.
- Assist in interpreting psycho educational evaluations and integrating recommendations into classroom practice.
- Provide professional development and coaching to faculty on differentiated instruction, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of student progress and services provided.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and strategies for home support.
- In Catholic schools: integrate faith-based values and compassion into all student support services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, School Psychology, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification; certification in Special Education or Educational Support Services preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in teaching, special education, or educational consulting.
- Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, assessment tools, intervention strategies, and instructional best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the school (and Catholic education, if applicable).
