Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Roadway Civil Engineer III in our St. Louis office to support transportation projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout the communities we serve.

This role is ideal for an engineer seeking expanded technical responsibility, exposure to a wide variety of transportation and development projects and continued professional growth within a collaborative Surface Transportation practice.

We are a fast-growing firm with 500+ employees across 25 offices in 10 states serving clients through our four primary business groups:

CMT provides planning, environmental, design, utility, and construction observation phase services on projects in all four of these groups and more, which range from simple to complex.

As a Roadway
Engineer III
, you'll collaborate with engineers, planners, environmental scientists, technicians, clients, and public and private agency partners to develop and deliver roadway, highway, multimodal, intersection, and other transportation infrastructure solutions. You will contribute to planning, design, and project delivery efforts while continuing to expand your technical expertise, transportation engineering knowledge, and professional growth through increased levels of responsibility within project teams.

What you will do
:

  • Support roadway design and transportation projects
  • Prepare roadway plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Perform engineering analyses and technical calculations
  • Develop technical reports and project deliverables
  • Utilize roadway design and engineering software
  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination activities
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project teams
  • Support field reviews, data collection, and site observations
  • Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Support transportation and multimodal infrastructure initiatives
  • Apply engineering standards, guidance, and project requirements in assigned work
  • Expand technical knowledge of roadway design, transportation engineering, and project delivery practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Here is what you’ll need
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • 2 - 6 years of demonstrated experience in civil or transportation engineering
  • Working knowledge of roadway and transportation engineering principles
  • Demonstrated experience supporting roadway design projects
  • Knowledge and experience with roadway design software and engineering analysis tools
  • Advance experience in engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design development
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work both in the office and in the field as required
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to support project, client, or stakeholder needs

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress towards licensure
  • Experience with Micro Station, Open Roads Designer ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar roadway design software
  • Experience with DOT, county, or municipal transportation projects
  • Working knowledge of roadway geometric design principles
  • Experience with transportation project delivery
  • Exposure to multimodal transportation improvements and public agency projects
