Security Officer – PRN

St. Joseph Hospital Wentzville is seeking a Security Officer to join our team. This is an as‑needed position; there is no set schedule and no guarantee of hours or shifts.

Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by delivering security services for staff, patients, visitors, and premises, and acts as a first responder to urgent facility matters.

• Conduct interior and exterior rounds, observing for safety and security issues, theft, and monitoring parking lots.
• Perform door checks, detect lighting deficiencies, confirm proper operation of elevators, and assist with disruptive individuals, patient restraints, and escorts for staff and clients.
• Respond to overhead pages or assistance requests, including escorting emergency personnel, providing post‑mortem services, and delivering professional customer service during complex situations.
• Identify safety and security hazards proactively, communicate with clinical staff, and observe and report security concerns.
• Complete incident reports and shift logs, forwarding them to appropriate individuals.
• Assist with maintenance of safety equipment (alarm testing, life safety equipment, AEDs, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, door integrity checks).
• Enforce organizational policies and procedures, monitor and investigate incidents using the video management system.
• May operate a motor vehicle for patrol duties and maintain a constant state of alertness.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Education: High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience or equivalent; psychological assessment required after conditional offer.
• Physical Requirements: Constant use of hearing and vision, frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs, frequent standing, twisting, walking; occasional lifting of objects over 50 lbs, occasional driving, and occasional keyboard use. Specific tasks include handling alarms, machinery, and patient transport.

  Valid driver’s license in Missouri and a motor vehicle record check;
  Security Officer License in St. Charles County or St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Security Officer License where applicable.
