Schedule:

Variable Shift, Work as Needed. Shift Differentials: available for night, weekend, and additional shifts. Must be at least 21 years old.

Job Summary

Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by delivering security services for staff, patients, visitors, and premises, and serves as a first responder to urgent facility matters.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct interior and exterior rounds, observe for safety and security issues, theft, and monitor parking lots.
  • Promote visitor and employee safety by performing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming elevator operation, assisting disruptive individuals, providing patient restraints, and escorting staff and clients when requested.
  • Respond to overhead pages or assistance requests, escort emergency personnel through the building, and provide post‑mortem services.
  • Provide professional customer service in complex and dynamic situations and proactively identify safety hazards through communication with clinical staff.
  • Observe and report security concerns, complete incident reports and shift logs, and forward them to appropriate individuals.
  • Assist with property conservation and campus safety (e.g., alarm testing, life‑safety equipment checks, AEDs, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, door integrity checks).
  • Enforce organization policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, review, and investigate incidents using the video management system.
  • Operate a motor vehicle for patrol if required.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of a psychological assessment after conditional offer to confirm suitability for security services.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of hearing for oral communication and alarms.
  • Constant use of vision for near and far distances.
  • Constant lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of speech for oral communication.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, twisting, and walking.
  • Frequent vision for judging distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, reaching, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect odors.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling, running, and lifting/moving patients.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications
  • Driving Record – Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Driver License issued in the United States.
  • Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID) – Illinois State Police.
  • Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) OR Active Law Enforcement Officer – Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board (ILETSB).
  • Security Officer License – St. Charles County OR Security Officer License – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
