Role Mission:
Students and families are the most important stakeholders at IDEA Public Schools. The School Counselor leads the campus family engagement vision, social emotional learning program, and coordination of mental health and counseling supports for all scholars on the campus. The role implements family engagement, social emotional learning, and student supports through the School Counselor, ensuring staff build authentic relationships with students and families.
Data maintenance and analysis drive campus strategies and tactics. Family engagement and student success are the responsibility of the entire campus team; the School Counselor directs and holds all team members accountable to fulfill their roles.
When the work is led effectively, the entire school staff is clear on roles, has the data needed to drive action, and can engage with students and parents in meaningful ways to help all students gain the academic and social skills needed to go to and through college. School Counselors help ensure a safe physical and emotional learning environment for students.
What We OfferCompensation:
Salaries for this role typically fall between $64,987 and $75,385, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

Qualifications:
- Education:
Master s degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field - Experience:
Previous experience in a school or school setting - License or Certification:
Valid TX School Counselor certification or counseling licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-S, LPC-A, LPC, LMFT-A, LMFT) required

- Ability to adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
Accountabilities include:
- 90% Student Persistence:
Lead the school vision for retaining all students by directing and coordinating family engagement and student persistence; provide counseling for at-risk students and refer to appropriate services; plan and execute student and family engagement events; manage campus persistence data with the PEIMS team; identify trends in withdrawals; coordinate interventions with Grade Level Admin, API s, GTLs, and Teachers; lead parent conversations;
coach teachers in working with students and families; maintain knowledge of community agencies; implement state-mandated guidance lessons; provide feedback and coaching for staff; participate in the campus crisis response team; conduct individual and group check-ins for social-emotional support; manage family communications platforms. - 90% New Student Persistence:
Partner with Enrollment Specialist and APO to onboard new students and families from day 1; coordinate campus-wide engagement to retain new students; lead new parent events and conversations; ensure onboarding is completed with operational support; own campus new student persistence data and analysis; conduct check-ins with new students - 97.5% Average Daily Attendance (ADA):
