Position Overview

The Admissions Counselor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and assignments, and develops recruiting plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students.
  • Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools.
  • Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the applications process.
  • Tracks and follows up with targeted students and parents.
  • Advises prospective students about admission statuses, policies, and office programs.
  • Develops working relationships with TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
  • Disseminates admissions information.
  • Conducts on and off campus public speaking and maintains related records.
  • Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, and appeals of admissions denials.
  • Completed reports on programs/projects.
  • Proposes, organizes, plans and coordinate events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records.
  • Coordinates major office programs.
  • Serves on office committees.

Required Qualifications
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience – One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Organizational and interpersonal skills.
