DescriptionMRI Technologist responsible for performing all MRI procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to the physician's orders and works collaboratively with the Radiology team to ensure safe and accurate delivery of patient care.

Education and Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited radiology, magnetic resonance (MR) program, licensed vocational nursing, or emergency medical technician program required.
- Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification within three (3) months of hire required.
- Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) MRI certification within twelve (12) months of hire preferred.
- Current State of Texas license (TMB) preferred.
- Magnetic Resonance (MR) Program Graduate:
- Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) MRI certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) required within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Licensed Vocational Nursing Program:
- Current licensed vocational nursing license in the State of Texas (LVN) required.
- Current license in the State of Texas as a Paramedic (EMT‑P) required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- American Heart Association ACLS and PALS recommended.
- Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
- Secretarial experience and organizational skills necessary.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required;
Spanish preferred. - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
- Computer knowledge required.
- At least two (2) years of hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with MRI procedures.
- Demonstrates accuracy and ability to closely follow established procedures.
- Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Requires working with frequent interruptions.
- Must project a professional image.
- Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others.
- Considers mission, vision, and values in developing services, standards and practices.
- Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures.
- Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment.
- Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area.
- Performs all MRI radiological procedures in a timely manner per protocol and optimizes imaging protocols to produce diagnostic‑quality images.
- Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions.
- Assumes responsibility for the collection and processing of patient specimens.
- Completes accurate documentation on patient records according to policy.
- Operates the facility's computer systems for related tasks.
- Ensures exams are verified and completed in PACS and RIS systems.
- Trains MRI technologists on appropriate procedure protocols.
- Confirms that equipment and supplies are MRI‑compatible.
- Adheres to MRI safety zones and conducts MRI screening process per policies and procedures.
- Maintains Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission standards.
- Maintains equipment and procedure competencies.
- Operates all clinical equipment safely and appropriately.
- Completes and updates all employment requirements, including continuing education (e.g., Health Stream), Employee Health, Radiology Competencies, Credentials, etc.
- Earns and submits 10 Category A credits of continuing education related to MRI annually.
