Port of Brownsville | Brownsville, TX (On-site)
We are seeking an HR Assistant to support the Human Resources department of a confidential employer located at thePort of Brownsville. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for assisting with day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Status:
Full-time
- Assist with employee onboarding, including new hire paperwork, orientation coordination, and I-9 verification.
- Support payroll processing — collecting timesheets, entering hours, and ensuring accuracy prior to submission.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR files in compliance with company policy.
- Provide excellent customer service to employees and management at all levels.
- Assist with HR administrative duties including correspondence, scheduling, and reporting.
- Support HR projects and other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus. - Prior experience in HR, onboarding, or payroll processing preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; college degree a plus.
Experience:
Prior HR, onboarding, or payroll experience preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish):
Strongly preferred.
Pay:
Based on Experience (Range of $20 to $25/hr)
