Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not‑for‑profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. It serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid‑Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery.
For 60 years, Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid‑Valley residents. More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff, and the hospital employs over 450 people.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice and directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace. The RN is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, provides a safe environment for patients and visitors, and utilizes the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well‑being and appropriate care to newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience
- Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
- BLS upon hire and maintain current.
- ACLS upon hire and maintain current.
- NRP within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
