Position: Advance Practice Provider (APP)

Overview

Texas Oncology Weslaco is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. This full‑time position supports the Medical Oncology Department at our Weslaco location. Typical work week Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm with no weekends or major holidays. This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

Responsibilities
  • Direct care and management in outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings, including documentation, patient and family education, ordering and reviewing diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, managing symptoms, counseling and support, collaborating with physicians, and providing education to staff, students, and the community.
  • Interdependent practice with collaborative physicians and team.
  • Proficient use of Electronic Health Record; mandatory documentation per Texas Oncology policy.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across the organization and the local medical community.
  • Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
  • Participate in tumor board, institutional trainings, and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
  • Level requirements:
    Level 1 (0‑3 years), Level 2 (3‑6 years), Level Sr (6+ years).

Physician Assistant

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current NCCPA certification.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in the practicing state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
  • Level requirements:
    Level 1 (0‑3 years), Level 2 (3‑6 years), Level Sr (6+ years).

Clinical Nurse Specialist

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
  • Level requirements:
    Level 1 (0‑3 years), Level 2 (3‑6 years), Level Sr (6+ years).
Physical Demands

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing, and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
