Overview

Nurse Aide in Training is a program that allows the employee to receive online and on‑the‑floor training as a Nurse Aide. Those who provide good customer service, are reliable, team players, and have a strong work ethic will become eligible for education assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Depending on availability and the employee’s learning preferences, PAID ON THE JOB TRAINING will be provided at NO COST through one of the following avenues:

  • Classes on or offsite at a Regency location.
  • A local program offered by a community college or technical school.
  • An internship and a waiver to skip the class but be able to pass a skills check and practice exam provided by the facility, that qualifies the employee to schedule for testing.
Essential Functions
  • Provide residents with comfort and safety, including detecting and reporting situations that may cause accidents or injuries.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
  • Assist with bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, caring for hair and nails, moving residents and lifting or transferring.
  • Utilize and log care provided into the Electronic Medical Records system.

  • Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
  • Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required.

  • Answer call lights in a timely manner, addressing the resident’s needs or determining if assistance from a Charge Nurse or another department is required.
  • Always provide good customer service—tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.
Introductory Hospitality Aide Period

Prior to beginning the Nurse Aide class, you will work in the role of Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two (2) weeks. • Make beds and assist with maintaining resident rooms.
  • Pass water and support resident comfort.
  • Pass trays in the dining hall.
  • Assist staff with other basic resident needs that do not require certification.
