Nurse Aide in Training is a program that allows the employee to receive online and on‑the‑floor training as a Nurse Aide. Those who provide good customer service, are reliable, team players, and have a strong work ethic will become eligible for education assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Depending on availability and the employee’s learning preferences, PAID ON THE JOB TRAINING will be provided at NO COST through one of the following avenues:
- Classes on or offsite at a Regency location.
- A local program offered by a community college or technical school.
- An internship and a waiver to skip the class but be able to pass a skills check and practice exam provided by the facility, that qualifies the employee to schedule for testing.
- Provide residents with comfort and safety, including detecting and reporting situations that may cause accidents or injuries.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
- Assist with bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, caring for hair and nails, moving residents and lifting or transferring.
- Utilize and log care provided into the Electronic Medical Records system.
- Measure and record vital signs.
- Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to residents and nursing staff.
- Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
- Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required.
- Safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Answer call lights in a timely manner, addressing the resident’s needs or determining if assistance from a Charge Nurse or another department is required.
- Always provide good customer service—tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.
Prior to beginning the Nurse Aide class, you will work in the role of Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two (2) weeks. This introductory period allows both you and the facility to ensure the Certified Nurse Aide role is a good fit and provides you with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the responsibilities involved in caring for our residents.
- Answer call lights.
- Make beds and assist with maintaining resident rooms.
- Pass water and support resident comfort.
- Pass trays in the dining hall.
- Assist staff with other basic resident needs that do not require certification.
- High School Diploma or GED is highly preferred.
- Experience as a caregiver is preferred.
- Good communication skills.
