Responsibilities
  • Under the authorization of the Maternal Medical Director and OB-Perinatal Director, assumes responsibility for the ongoing development, growth, operations, and oversight authority of the Maternal Program.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and understanding of the interdependent roles of various allied health professionals.
  • Assist with development of policies, protocols, practice guidelines, participate in performance improvement monitoring, and staff education to perform acute clinical care to the OB/GYN.
  • Promote optimal care to the pregnant and immediately postpartum patient through clinical activities, professional and public education, injury prevention, quality improvement, and patient safety.
  • Serve as a resource to patient care areas regarding nursing care for the pregnant and postpartum patient; act as a liaison for maternal care by maintaining effective communication with all concerned parties.
  • In conjunction with the Maternal Medical Director, responsible for overall management of the maternal program.
  • Actively participate in the development of a regionalized maternal care system.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • BLS (AHA) required on hire and maintained.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days and maintained.
  • NRP certification within 90 days and maintained.
  • Basic fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire.
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred.
  • STABLE certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline or master’s degree.
