Job Summary
Responsible for circulating the library collection, collecting fines, overseeing and calling for overdue materials, performing collection maintenance, assisting patrons with questions and computer problems. Assists with the Theater Complex programming and maintenance. Employee is required to support activities of the Summer Reading Program (SRP) and perform all similar or related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions- Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
- Perform circulation desk duties, including greeting patrons, checking in and out library materials, registering new patrons, collecting fines, and shelving.
- Perform after‑hours work as required (nights and weekends).
- Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
- Support with summer programs.
- Decorate and maintain library space.
- Maintain library public areas in a clean and orderly fashion by sustaining orderly shelves, refilling displays, and decorating library space as assigned.
- Operate cash register.
- Assist with monthly reports.
- File applications and answer phone.
- Provide patron assistance service.
- Assist with the Theater Complex programming and maintenance.
- Assist with webpage committee as assigned and other interdivisional projects.
- Work proficiently with basic computer software and assist patrons with computer use.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One (1) year of related work experience to perform such job.
- Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check and drug screen at the city’s expense.
- Must have a current valid Class "C" driver's license and be insurable.
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command training within the first three months of hire date.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Computing ability.
- Proficient customer service skills.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional walking, standing, and stooping.
- Occasional lifting, moving, or positioning objects up to 30 lbs.
