As a Transmission Line Engineer in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, coordinate, and develop transmission line designs for greenfield and brownfield projects. This includes PLS-CADD modeling, structural analysis, development of design criteria, wire selection, etc.
Assist with proposal development and serve as the Technical Lead for transmission line projects.
Perform QA reviews and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers and designers.
Estimate labor, material, and construction costs for transmission line projects.
Conduct field inspections, route evaluations, and provide construction support.
Create construction bid documents, review contracts, specifications, bids, and offer recommendations.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
5+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry.
P.E. license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Proficiency in transmission line design, including:
Develop plan and profile drawings.
Structure loading and analysis for wood, steel, and concrete poles/towers.
Sag-tension calculations and conductor clearance analysis.
Foundation design for transmission structures.
Route selection and environmental considerations.
Knowledge of permitting procedures, right-of-way, property lines, and easements.
Familiarity with industry standards such as NESC, ASCE, IEEE, AISC, ACI, ASTM, and RUS specifications
.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Capable of supervising and training new team members.
Proficiency in PLS-CADD
, PLS-POLE
, PLS-TOWER
, and SAG
10 software.Experience with structural analysis tools such as LPile
, and RISA 3D / RISA Foundation
.
Experience designing transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV, along with proficiency or working knowledge of power line design software related to Power Line Systems (PLS) tools.
Experience with renewable energy integration and grid modernization projects.

Project Engineer II $ - $141,000 per year. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
