Full time. Shift: Mids (10:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.)

Assists surgeons in the preparation for and during surgical procedures.

• Uses physician preference cards to set up operating suites; updates and routes cards appropriately when instructed.
• Determines appropriate surgical equipment and supplies based on physician preference; sets up the procedure room with correct instrumentation and supplies.
• Achieves temporary and permanent hemostasis by applying appropriate techniques.
• Assists with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems.
• Familiar with common positions related to the surgical procedure and can use the necessary equipment to provide the position.

• High school education or equivalent upon hire.
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Course upon hire.
• Requires one of the following:
  • Minimum five years total experience as a CST/CFA (each year of CST experience = 0.5 year, each year of CFA experience = 1 year).
  • Skilled experience in at least two of the following major surgical specialties:
    Orthopedics, Spine, Neurosurgery, or Robotics.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or RQI upon hire, then renewed quarterly following the RQI protocol.
• Current Surgical Technologist First Assistant certification from one of the following upon hire:
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
  • National Surgical Association as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
  • American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
• Eight hours Hip and Knee Replacement/Spine Education within six months of hire date, then annually.
