Job SummaryProvides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
- Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
- Solves complex problems.
- Exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
- Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
- Assess the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
- Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
- Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
- Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.
- Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participating in quality and safety initiatives, and acting as a department super user.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
