Job Description Summary:
The Orthopedics/Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides specialized care for patients with hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity conditions in collaboration with orthopedic hand surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team. This provider delivers comprehensive patient care across the continuum, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, postoperative management, and patient education. The APRN plays a key role in helping patients restore function, improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve optimal outcomes through Advent Health's commitment to whole-person care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of orthopedic and hand surgery practices, procedures, and patient management.
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and upper extremity conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
- Knowledge of preoperative and postoperative orthopedic patient care.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
