Overview
The General Superintendent is responsible for the overall direction for field installation of one or more assigned projects. They own direct responsibility for the safety and morale of the field labor, labor coordination, quality, and production on assigned projects. They represent the Company on the project site and ensure that the installation functions as designed and satisfies the contracted scope.
Responsibilities- Full responsibility for quality installation of the project.
- Reviews submittals and installation/operations manuals for accuracy and compliance.
- Identifies potential change orders related to scope and schedule.
- Handles customer relations.
- Conducts weekly safety meetings.
- Attends cost/job reviews.
- Schedules manpower and is also responsible for hiring workers.
- Interprets plumbing and HVAC drawings for craft installation.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates on-site functions.
- Reviews material take-offs, tool order requisitions, and equipment rental requisitions in a timely fashion to maximize field productivity.
- Coordinates installation between trades and coordinates sub-contractor progress.
- Ensures all on-site employees comply with OSHA standards and company work rules.
- Schedules equipment deliveries with the project management and GC and oversees periodic inspections by governing authorities.
- Monitors labor reporting, labor production tracking, and approves timesheets and four‑week look‑ahead schedules.
- 10+ years of experience as a superintendent on commercial construction projects in the areas of Mechanical/Plumbing/HVAC.
- Experience in the construction of large mechanical projects with contracts in excess of $10+ million.
- Well versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- State Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing Contractors License
- Medical gas certification
- Large ($20M+) commercial construction experience
- Experience with prefabrication
- Experience with P6 Primavera
- 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
- Prolonged periods of walking jobsites
- Climbing stairs.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Elevated and/or cold temperature environments for prolonged periods of time
