Flex Pet Care Specialist - Now Hiring
Are you an experienced pet care professional who loves every aspect of resort operations—from playgroups and enrichment to boarding care? Do you get bored doing the exact same task every single day and thrive when you can jump in, save the day, and show off your versatile skills? If you’re looking for a dynamic role where your experience is valued and no two shifts look the same, we have the ulti-mutt job for you!
Bay Paws Pet Resort is looking for an experienced Flex Pet Care Specialist to join our team. This is a premium position for a cross-trained "floater" who can seamlessly transition between Daycare, Boarding, and Enrichment departments (with light front-desk support when needed) based on where our resort needs the most support.
Why Bay Paws is a Great Place to Work
At Bay Paws, we genuinely put the "PET in hosPETality." We operate under a supportive "inverted pyramid" leadership structure. This means management’s primary job is to support you, providing the resources, training, and industry education you need to feel confident and succeed in your role. We value integrity, safety, teamwork, and high-level care-while keeping our workplace active, positive, and rewarding.
Key Responsibilities
As a Flex Pet Care Specialist, you are our all-around resort expert and team MVP:
- Master Group Play & Daycare: Step into daycare yards to manage playgroups, monitor pack dynamics, and maintain safe, active play.
- Provide Precision Boarding Care: Execute feeding, medication, health checks, and basic departure baths/brushing for overnight guests with meticulous accuracy.
- Facilitate Brain-Boosting Enrichment: Run individual and small-group enrichment games (puzzles, scent work, agility) and log pet progress in Moe Go.
- Support Front-to-Back Transitions: Safely transfer dogs between the lobby and care departments, helping out front desk during peak check-in/out rushes.
- Collaborate & Adapt: Transition smoothly between departments mid-shift, communicating critical health or behavioral notes clearly to department leads.
The Perks (Because You’re Worth It)
We believe in taking care of the people who take care of our pet guests. Here is a look at what we offer:
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and holiday pay/incentives
- Free pet boarding and daycare so your own dog can enjoy a vacation while you work
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental wellness support
- Generous employee discounts on retail and services
- Flexible scheduling and on-the-job training
- Real opportunities for advancement within the company
- Employee of the Month program featuring cash prizes
- Free snacks in the breakroom to keep your human battery charged
- Referral program cash bonuses for bringing talent to our team
Who We Are Looking For
- You have 1-2+ years of solid experience in a dog daycare, boarding facility, veterinary clinic, or animal shelter environment.
- You have a strong, proven understanding of canine body language, pack dynamics, medical/feeding care, and basic enrichment.
- You are highly adaptable, proactive, and love having variety in your workday.
- You possess strong communication skills and feel comfortable using kennel software (Moe Go experience is a bonus!).
- You have the physical stamina to stand, walk, clean, and manage active dogs of all sizes for the duration of a shift.
