EOI Space is developing and deploying a constellation of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery. We aim to delivertimelyand actionable data for commercial and defense applications.

EOI Space is looking for a Lead Technician to lead our technician team through spacecraft assembly, integration, and test. Reporting to the Director of System Engineering & Integration, this role combines hands-on build work with day-to-day leadership of the technician team across mechanical and electrical integration, harness fabrication, and final spacecraft assembly.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician who has grown into leadership, thrives in a fast-paced environment where processes are still evolving, and sets the standard for safety, quality, and workmanship on the floor.

Whatyou willdo:

The Lead Technician oversees the technician team and the day-to-day execution of spacecraft assembly, integration, and test. This is a working leadership role. The Lead performs hands-on assembly alongside the team while providing direction, training, and coordination, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.

The Lead ensures the team works safely, to quality standards, and in line with engineering specifications and ATLO procedures, and works closely with the engineering teams to meet program goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high-performing technician team by recommending appropriate training, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, setting clear expectations and performance goals, and monitoring progress.
  • Ensure effective use of technician resources by coordinating work schedules, assignments, and workload distribution across the team.
  • Identify development and training opportunities by conducting regular performance evaluations and providing feedback.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing guidance and support to technicians in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Build and lead the technician staff, including participation in hiring and onboarding of new technicians.
  • Lead the assembly of the spacecraft by performing hands-on work, guiding the work of the technician team, and ensuring the team has the resources it needs to be successful.
  • Execute and oversee spacecraft manufacturing and integration, including mechanical and electronic subsystems, harness fabrication, and final spacecraft assembly.
  • Integrate and deploy GSE hardware as needed tofacilitatethebuildof the spacecraft and its associated components and subsystems.
  • Oversee HIL and Flatsatconfigurations, ensuring they are properlymaintainedand controlled.
  • Work from engineering drawings and technical documents and ensure technicians do the same.
  • Develop process plans and standard operating procedures through regular collaboration with the engineering and production teams.
  • Identify and reduce process inefficiencies by developing strategies that improve technical workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Raise awareness of any issues withbuilddocumentation or hardware and drive them to resolution with engineering.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and engineering specifications through proper training and preparation for all technician activities.
  • Follow and enforce ATLO procedures, documentation standards, and data-handling policies across the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace industry standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Ensure technicians adhere to all relevant safety regulations and guidelines by implementing regular safety training sessions and monitoring safety practices.
  • Responsible for lab and cleanroom organization and cleanliness.
  • Protect sensitive data, hardware, and technology by implementing and enforcing security and export-control protocols consistent with EOI Space's ITAR and EAR obligations, including controlled access, marking, and storage of export-controlled items.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with time focused on spacecraft or satellite applications.
  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role, as a Technician Lead or similar position.
  • Strong hands-on background in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, and structural assembly, including harness fabrication and spacecraft integration.
