Position Summary

Grade 5 Teacher at O. Brown K-8 Campus.

• Instruct students to the best of their ability within the curriculum plan adopted by the Board, utilizing the services of the Division of Instructional Services and the building principal to continually improve instructional technique.
• Participate actively in committees dealing with planning, research, curriculum, public relations, or other professional activities in the school or system, and attend building and District faculty meetings.
• Exercise proper supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies, and equipment; instruct students in the care and appropriate use of school property, and report any abuses promptly.
• Maintain classroom control that promotes the best learning environment; keep the principal informed and seek assistance when necessary.
• Manage and supervise all students of the school; may be assigned specific tasks outside the classroom by the principal.
• Open and close the school’s sessions or class schedules punctually at the hours designated by the Board.
• Acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations of the Board and enforce them within their jurisdiction.
• Observe pupils to determine defects that hinder success and report such situations to the principal.
• Prepare lesson plans, records, and reports required by the principal or central office.
• Work cooperatively and communicate with parents as needed for the best interests of the students.

Wisconsin Statutes 18.01, 118.02, 118.03(2), 118.06, 118.12, 118.125, 118.17, and 118.18.

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license.

• Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
• Able to walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in an emergency situation.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, respond to active crisis situations, and support student movement.
• Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
• Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building.
• Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
• Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm.
• Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
