Position: Paraprofessional/Instructional Aide (Year Round)

The Richardson School is now seeking an Instructional Aide to join their West Allis team!

Overview

As an Instructional Aide, you are responsible for caring for the students directly. Relationship building is essential, as you assist the students’ needs in education, therapeutic/behavioral support, and hygiene as needed. The school serves students with developmental or neurological disabilities combined with emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders. The school calendar follows a 180‑day schedule with an optional Extended School Year for students in need of this programming.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behavioral support, social and/or medical concerns related to the students.
  • Complete and submit paperwork, instructional data, and behavior data in a timely fashion as scheduled per assigned students.
  • Use Agency‑approved treatment techniques in supervising and educating students after training.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with behavior management and behavior education techniques used at TRS.
  • Act as a role model and set an appropriate example for students, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the IEP by using resources to implement students’ academic program under the direction and training of the classroom teacher and the TRS Education Leadership team.
  • Engage students in active learning as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Provide support for all staff working within the classroom setting and ensure that Education Department policies are followed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required);
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • At least one year of experience working with special needs students preferred.
  • Eligible for Instructional Aide license through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining self‑composure and self‑control.
  • Effective working alone and as part of a team.
Wages & Benefits
  • Hours:

    8am–4pm, Monday–Friday.
  • Schedule:

    Regular School Year + ESY & Bobcat Camp availability (year‑round employment).
  • Pay Rate: $20/hour starting.
