Position Summary
We are seeking a Metallurgical Engineering to work out of our West Allis, WI office. In this role, you will apply metallurgical engineering principles to manage materials used in service work. Your responsibilities will include material identification, testing, recommendations, non‑destructive testing, and special processes for joining materials. Expect hands‑on work, close collaboration with colleagues and customers, and may include participation in bidding and proposal development.
Additionally, you’ll play a key role in showcasing Toshiba Engineering’s capabilities through marketing and sales support activities.
- Proficiency in Material Management:
- Skillful in offering material recommendations, substitutions, identification, and testing.
- Familiarity with material specifications such as ASTM, AISI, SAE, ACI, AA, UNS, and JIS.
- Welding and Brazing Procedures:
- Proficient in writing welding and brazing procedure specifications.
- Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Quality System:
- Taking a leadership role in the company’s NDE quality system.
- Responsibilities include maintaining NDE technician certifications through testing.
- Authoring MT, PT, ET (Electromagnetic or Eddy Current), and UT specifications.
- Certification as an ASNT Level III or equivalent is required.
- Directing, developing, performing, and documenting extensive RCA for failed components to support service work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering.
- One year (preferably intern experience) in a manufacturing or service setting.
- Ability to deliver technical presentations including Root Cause Analysis to customers.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills including familiarity with procedure and process documentation and technical report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
- Knowledge of document management concepts and computer‑based document management systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis.
- Certifications in Welding and NDE courses is a plus.
The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
