Position SummaryThe New STG EHC Technical Advisor provides on‑site technical leadership and advisory support for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning support of Electro‑Hydraulic Control (EHC) systems for newly supplied steam turbines. This role is focused on new steam turbine projects and works closely with EPC contractors, Toshiba Japan engineering, control system vendors, and TAES project teams to ensure EHC systems are installed, configured, and validated in full compliance with Toshiba design specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
The position serves as the field technical authority for EHC system installation and readiness and is responsible for execution, witnessing, and documentation of all Critical‑to‑Quality (CTQ) checks through system turnover. The role may also support customer training at the conclusion of commissioning using project‑developed training materials.
- Provide on‑site technical advisory support for installation and integration of steam turbine EHC systems and associated hydraulic and control components.
- Project site assignments (domestic and international), typically six to eight months per site depending on project scope.
- Ensure EHC system installation and configuration are performed in accordance with Toshiba design drawings, control philosophies, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Serve as the primary technical interface between EPC contractors, TAES project management, Toshiba Japan engineering, and control system vendors for EHC‑related activities.
- Review and validate EPC EHC installation procedures, system checkout plans, flushing plans, and testing methodologies for technical compliance.
- Perform, witness, and document all Critical‑to‑Quality (CTQ) inspections and hold points related to EHC systems, including hydraulic piping, cleanliness, and functional checks.
- Verify hydraulic oil cleanliness levels, system pressures, response characteristics, valve actuation performance, and alarm/interlock functionality.
- Support EHC system functional testing and commissioning activities in coordination with commissioning and I&C teams.
- Identify, document, and support resolution of EHC installation and configuration non‑conformances in coordination with engineering and quality teams.
- Participate in site safety meetings and actively promote safe work practices during EHC installation and testing activities.
- Support customer training sessions at project closeout, delivering system overview and operational training using materials prepared by the project team.
- Training, Qualification & Certification
- Complete required classroom and factory training in Japan, including hands‑on support of equipment assembly, to develop detailed knowledge of scope of supply, design documentation, and quality requirements. Expected four to six months of initial training in Japan.
- Perform U.S.–based OJT assignments during new unit installations, with formal skill evaluations. Successful completion of one or more OJT assignments and demonstration of skills will result in TA certification as a fully qualified, billable Technical Advisor.
- Participate in ongoing training in Japan to maintain qualification and support future project needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of technical training and extensive field experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
