Overview

Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. This role serves as a key leader to drive change and cultural growth in safety, engagement, quality, delivery, and cost.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager supports the preparation of customer quotations and contract execution by performing a technical review of customer requirements and developing required manufacturing processes and supporting documentation, including bills of materials and estimated labor times/costs. This position requires collaboration with Purchasing, Operations, Quality and Sales, and may involve routine interfacing with customers, vendors, and various levels of the organization.

The role also leads continuous improvement, implements lean philosophies, and engages all team members within the operations group. It includes managing the facilities CAPEX budget and ensuring mid- to long-term CAPEX planning to support growth initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians responsible for optimizing and upgrading existing manufacturing equipment to meet plant manufacturing goals. Participate in the purchase, install, start-up and validation of new equipment and/or processes as required to meet product specifications and manufacturing expectations.
  • Design modification and improvement of production machinery and equipment to enhance safety, quality and cost. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to production machinery, equipment and processes.
  • Assist in all phases of Budget and Standards preparation (Labor, Spare Parts, etc.) and support bid and no-bid meetings.
  • Design, recommend and implement cost-reduction projects within the scope of annual plant targets.
  • Maintain a 3– to 5-year vision for capital planning and a strategy for addressing ongoing obsolescence management.
  • Assess resource skill requirements, labor loading, prioritization of work and time allocation for sustaining engineering activities and projects within a manufacturing department.
  • Drive or participate in robustness evaluations and process/equipment improvements for new manufacturing and technology processes.
Experience, Education &

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Advanced Technical (MS) or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar scheduling programs.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems;
    Oracle EBS experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate a PC in a networked environment.
  • Experience in process development and bill of materials structure development preferred.
  • Experience in a service or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in the power generation industry preferred.
Skills
  • Experience with factory automation equipment design, operation and maintenance, preferably in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and category management experience desirable; knowledge of MRP and production order maintenance using Oracle.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with shop management and project managers on schedules.
  • Strong blueprint reading, math, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team leadership capable of guiding the team toward common goals.
Preferred
  • Experience with Oracle P6 project management software or comparable tools.
  • Experience in process development and bill of materials structure development.
  • Experience in a service environment and in the power generation industry.
Physical & Work Environment

The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and ability to adjust focus. The role requires standing, walking, and using hands to manipulate objects; occasional sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, and other movements. The environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals;

occasional exposure to high places and varying temperatures and humidity. The noise level is frequently loud.
