Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions – new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more – for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

We are seeking to fill the role of a
Turbine Engineer to work at our West Allis, WI office. This position will be filled with an experienced individual contributor responsible for leading technical execution of turbine service and repair projects. This role operates independently, solving engineering problems and developing repair solutions. The position regularly interfaces with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams and supports mentoring of junior engineers. The position participates in inspection, data collection, and repair development activities.

The role focuses on learning industry standards, internal processes, and engineering practices while contributing to project execution.

  • Lead evaluation of turbine issues and develop repair solutions
  • Independently perform engineering analysis, including coordination with FEA and dynamics teams
  • Develop and validate repair methods and material specifications
  • Represent engineering in customer discussions and technical reviews
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations
  • Assist with proposal development and technical risk assessments
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines and functional teams
  • Approve technical documentation, procedures, and reports

Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 4-8 years of engineering experience or relevant experience in steam turbines or heavy rotating equipment
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills
  • Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools
  • Experience with project coordination and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to lead technical tasks independently
  • Turbine design and repair methodologies
  • Material science and failure mechanisms
  • Industry standards and compliance requirements
  • Cross-disciplinary engineering principles including dynamics and FEA

Physical Requirements (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Work involves a mix of office, shop, and field environments including shop floors and power generation

facilities. Requires sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of equipment. Must be able to navigate stairs, platforms, and confined spaces. Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial hazards is possible. Adherence to all safety policies and use of required PPE is mandatory.
