HR / Payroll Generalist II/III (FT benefits, 30 hours)

The HR/Payroll Generalist is responsible for supporting daily human resources functions while administering accurate and compliant payroll processing. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, supports employee relations, manages benefits administration, and processes payroll in a timely and confidential manner. The position serves as a key liaison between employees, management, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration- Check timesheets for accuracy
- Process bi-weekly payroll for multi-site employees and corporate employees
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws including the Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- Maintain payroll records and ensure proper tax withholding
- Coordinate payroll tax filings and reporting (federal and state)
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries
- Manage garnishments, levies, and benefit deductions
- Work with third-party payroll system – ADP
- Working with Accounting for accurate billings of employees time and accounting entries for each payroll cycle
- Entering data into spreadsheets to maintain confidentiality of employee records
- Administer onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain employee files in compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other employment regulations
- Assist with benefits enrollment and open enrollment coordination
- Support recruitment efforts and job postings
- Maintain compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulations
- Assist with performance management tracking and documentation
- Support employee relations matters and investigations
- Prepare employment verification and unemployment responses
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety documentation
- Maintain HRIS database integrity
- Prepare internal HR metrics and payroll reports
- Assist with audits (internal, financial, workers comp, benefits)
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel and payroll records
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of combined HR and payroll experience
- Multi-state payroll experience preferred
- Property management or multi-location experience is a plus (if applicable to your portfolio)
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax compliance
- Understanding of employment law and HR best practices
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite (advanced excel skills)
