Location: Hybrid / Onsite in West Allis weekly - Employees must reside in Wisconsin for payroll purposes.

Reports to: Human Capital Manager

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is seeking a highly organized, detail‑oriented Human Capital Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will support critical Human Capital functions with a focus on leave administration, worker’s compensation, safety/OSHA processes, and department-wide coordination
. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, exercises sound judgment, and enjoys collaborating with employees, leaders, and external partners.

As a key member of our Human Capital team, you will help ensure LSS maintains compliant, consistent, and employee‑centered practices while delivering exceptional service to colleagues across the organization.

What You’ll Do Employee Leave Administration
  • Manage all aspects of leave of absence processes including FMLA, personal leaves, short‑term disability (STD), and long‑term disability (LTD).
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, managers, and insurance carriers.
  • Communicate leave status updates and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Partner with HC Generalists on employee relations issues tied to the leave process.
Worker’s Compensation
  • Administer all worker’s compensation processes including claim intake, reporting, and ongoing case coordination.
  • Serve as liaison with WC carriers and brokers; participate in quarterly review meetings.
  • Support return‑to‑work programs and provide recommendations following incident reviews.
Reasonable Accommodations
  • Facilitate documentation and communication throughout the interactive process

  • Work collaboratively with HC Generalists to manage accommodation requests.
OSHA & Workplace Safety
  • Support LSS in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Assist with OSHA reporting, safety training requirements, and safety program documentation.
  • Help ensure emergency action plans, checklists, and safety materials are maintained and communicated.
Project & Administrative Support
  • Serve as the Master Administrator of PowerDMS
    , including document updates and reporting.
  • Prepare letters, mail merges, presentations, spreadsheets, and other HC documents.
  • Support training logistics, meeting planning, shared-drive organization, and special projects as assigned.
Customer Service & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide excellent service to employees, leaders, and external partners.
  • Support Human Capital initiatives, process improvements, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Assist with departmental analysis, reporting, and administrative needs.
What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate’s Degree strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of administrative or Human Capital (HR) experience
  • Knowledge of FMLA, OSHA, ADA, and Wisconsin worker’s compensation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems preferred
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (MVR check required)
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based with the potential for remote work as approved
  • Regular talking, hearing, sitting, walking; occasional lifting up to 10 lbs
  • Travel up to 5% for meetings or training (some overnight travel possible)
